Speaking at a press conferance today at the Greenock Morton Supporters club, club captain John Gisbey put to bed rumours that he would challenge manager Lee for the management position next season. With rumours of Lee perhaps quitting football at the end of the season speculation was that Gisbey was considering a takeover bid backed by local entertainment figure Kenny Jannetts and journeyman footballer Joe McCauley.
However Gisbey said today '' I dont know where these rumours have came from but I can categorically deny that I have any desire to take over next season. I'd like to think I could compete at the top level of supporters club football for at least the next two seasons. '' When asked if in fact the deal had failed to materialise was in fact that financial backer McCauley was unable to raise funds Gisbey laughed and said '' We all no there's no price to high for Joe(McCauley), if he has his eyes set on something he''ll get it.''
