In 1996 a group of Morton supporters from the Greenock Morton Supporters Club (GMSC) met and decided to form a football team of Morton supporters to play friendlies against local works teams.
We decided to buy a set of Morton strips (James Watt College sponsored ones) which we got at reduced prices from Smiths sports shop.
From then onwards up to 2002 we played as often as possible although not on a regular basis and we did not keep any records of fixtures or results.
The original team is shown below with an asteriks * highlighting players/officials who are still with the team.
Kenni Lee*
Kenny Jannetts*
John Gisbey*
Stuart Jannetts*
David Riddell*
Dan Watt
Chris Hanley
Mick Docherty
Andrew Adams
Davie Adams*
Davie McEwan
John Murphy*
Joe McCaulay*
In late 2001 Kenny,Kenni & John decided that we wanted to try to join a league setup and therefore applied to join the SSFL for season 2002-2003.
We are currently playing friendlies against teams from the league and await the outcome of our application which will be discussed at the league's AGM in June 2002. With some excellent sponsorship received we are certainly optimistic that our application will be successful for next season
